Your Porn Habits Are No Secret

Just read this piece about the privacy of your web habits on The Daily Beast, which reveals that for the skilled detective, your search history is far from secret. Shock and awe, I know. I guess I’ve never really assumed that my, say, porn viewing trail (since I developed one) was secret from the IT gods or my husband should he care to go-a-snooping. However, it’s well known in my house that my search history is downright filthy. I am, after all, writing a book about porn.

On the flip side, I don’t have any inclination to go digging through my hubby’s history for filthy bits. Undoubtedly, that is largely to do with the fact that we have talked extensively about porn and our preferences, meaning that all of his donkey and granny porn doesn’t really phase me (kidding…sort of). If his search history revealed Ashley Madison on the other hand, we might have an issue. (Except wait, now it’s forever imbedded on mine!) What’s a modern gal to do? I choose the pathway of trust. Besides, what if he’s secretly buying me diamonds and these Sergio Rossi boots for Christmas? Who’d want to ruin the big reveal…

I guess this YOU HAVE NO PRIVACY, DUH revelation really only has an impact on my relationship with the random Mac repair dude who may or may not have seen all of my homemade porn. Which I already surmised by the way that he looked at me. That, and the fact that the folder is named “homemade porn, hooray!”

Sorry again, Mum. I don’t know how a waspy family like ours ended up with a daughter who writes about smut. Love you! Merry Christmas, everyone!
